Young church-goers united as ‘one’

Published June 12, 2009

LOGANVILLE — It started with voices raised in worship and heads bowed in prayer and ended with water balloons catapulted across the ball fields. Such was the second event of “United,” a collaborative summer program taking place every Wednesday evening at Loganville High School.

The event, involving seven area churches, brings together youth from grades six to 12 every Wednesday night.

“The event starts in the Loganville High School Theater at 6:30 p.m. with a high-energy worship service including drama and a contemporary praise band and will move to the practice fields from 8 to 9 p.m. for outdoor games. United will conclude on August 5 with a large youth rally including guest speakers and special worship music,” said Chris Meade, student ministry volunteer with the First Baptist Church of Loganville that presented the first evening of activities.

Woodlake Baptist Church organized this week’s program and Crossroads of Walton County is scheduled to organize the events for next week. Other churches involved are the Church at the Grove, The Orchard Church and Corinth Christian Church.

“It looks like we have more this week than last,” said Wayne Naugle of Loganville First Baptist Church. “The object is to give the youth something to do over the summer and to give some who might not have had an opportunity to attend church before to come here and see what it is all about.”

For more information on the United program call Naugle at 678-610-6359.
