Dixie Claire Wallace Brooks, age 81 of finished her journey here on earth Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. at her home in Monroe.
For a woman who was always so many things to a multitude of people, a gilded seat in heaven is surely hers.
Funeral Services were held Tuesday Sept. 15, at 2 p.m. at Corinth Christian Church with remains placed in state at 1:30 PM. with Minister Don Hardison and Minister Lester Waters officiating. Burial at Corinth Memorial Gardens, Loganville.
Dixie is survived by her husband, Eugene J. Brooks; her sister Blanche Jane Logan of Walters, OK; her son Randy Brooks and his children Mark, Denny, Joel and Nandi of Barcelona, Spain; her daughter Cathy (Brooks) Morris, her husband Ed Dr., and son Donald of Hollidaysburg, PA.; their daughter Holly Blomberg of Olympia, WA., their son Ed Jr. of Portland, OR., and their daughter Amy Olivarez of Fort Leonard Wood, MO; her son Wallace Ray Brooks, his wife Erin and their daughter Katie of Loganville, GA., and their son Sean of Conroe, TX. She will also be missed and eternally loved by many other family members and friends. Dixie was born Jan. 18, 1928 in Geronimo, OK., the daughter of James Lewis (Jim) Wallace and Lucy Eugenia (Jean) Lowry Wallace. She graduated from Walters High School May 17, 1945, and attended Nurses Training at General Hospital, Wichita Falls, Texas, from June 1945 until Sept. 3. 1946. Dixie and Gene married Aug. 31, 1946 and were blessed with 63 years of living and loving together. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Carrie Mae Martin, born Oct. 2, 1920, and died Aug. 23, 1994; and Lucy Jean Martin, born Aug. 2, 1924 and died March 29, 1988.
