Lions fall to King’s Ridge

ALPHARETTA —Loganville Christian Academy saw their season record fall to 4-2 on the year with a 27-6 loss to a talented King’s Ridge Christian School Friday night.
“Even though we lost, we competed hard throughout the entire game,” head Lion Andre King said. “The kids played all four quarters. They never gave up.”
King said the Tiger squad is very skilled at the quarterback, receivers and running back positions.
“They really carried their football team,” he said. “They took advantages of some mismatches and played a really good game.”
LCA’s only score came on a pass from Matt Kirkland to receiver Terrance Brown. On defense, Drew Sewell had a sack and Clay Mote blocked an extra-point attempt.
The Lions now prepare for Crown Athletics — a team they’ve already beaten once this season (9-0) — on the road in Marietta. LCA plays host at 6 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Field on the Lions’ campus.
“We have to get the kids ready for a team whose philosophy is to pound the ball down your throat,” King said. “We handled their running game well the first time we met; we just have to be prepared to do it again.”
This late in the season, LCA’s list of walking wounded is growing.
“Injuries in football is not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when and how bad,” King said. “We’ve got some players nicked-up, but we have to get ready to play the next two games.”
Harrison Monda, a senior standout on offense and defense for the Lions, was injured in the King’s Ridge game. However, according to King, Monda has been cleared to play on Saturday against Crown Athletics.
