Incumbents to return to Walnut Grove Council
Published November 3, 2009
WALNUT GROVE — A three-way race for only two seats on the city council ended with no change to the body’s makeup.
Incumbents Wayne Dimsdale and Jerry Smith both won re-election, holding off challenger Gerald Fleming’s bid for one of their seats.
In a race that saw only 116 votes, Smith received the highest vote tally with 53. Dimsdale received 40 votes, while Fleming received only 23 votes.
The three candidates ran for two open seats, with the two top vote-getters winning positions.
The two incumbents easily held off Fleming to win re-election.
“I feel great being re-elected,” Smith said. “I thought the race went very well. I didn’t like that there wasn’t that much of a turnout. I wish more people would have come out.”
