Man charged with child molestation

Published November 29, 2009

A Monroe man was arrested Nov. 17 and charged with molesting a 11-year-old Texas girl known to him.

Michael Todd Wilder, 35, of 528 Spruce Lane, Monroe, has been charged with two counts of child molestation and one count of aggravated sexual battery.

Monroe Police Department officials were contacted by Montgmery County, Texas, law enforcement after they received a report of a child allegedly being molested in Monroe. Montgomery County investigators conducted a preliminary investigation and found enough evidence so support the claim and turned the case over the MPD.

Detective Alicia Martin-Chandler opened the case in early November.

“I felt there was enough evidence to call him in for an interview, he came, and after the interview I felt like there was enough to arrest him,” the detective said.

The alleged incidents took place over three years.

Wilder has no previous sexually related criminal history, police said.
