The Loganville Christian Academy Lions got back on the winning track last weekend with a 33-6 win over Crown Athletics (Marietta) and extended their season record to 5-2.
“The second time you play an opponent you never know what you’re gong to get,” said LCA head coach Andre King. “We beat them 9-0 at their place but sometimes you can get a letdown but our kids matched their intensity and played really well.”
The offensive standout for the Lions was senior running back Harrison Monda who — while nursing a bruised knee, carried the ball for 132 yards, including three touchdowns.
Another senior standout, quarterback Matt Kirkland, went 7-for-17 and 135 yards in the winning effort. Kirkland also had a 1-yard scoring plunge.
Matt Lype carried the ball four times for 79 yards, the majority of those coming on a 61-yard romp for a touchdown. Lions’ placekicker Nolan Callaway was 3-for-5 in point-after attempts.
King said the Players of the Game were Monda on offense, Clay Mote on defense and the entire offensive line for an outstanding effort in the win.
The Lions host Windsor Academy in the last game of the season tonight.
“They are a powerhouse team and it should be a good, hard-hitting contest,” he said. “We scheduled this game to see where we are after a season of play.”
